THE ROLE
As a Project Engineer at Kit Switch, you will take a hands-on role in the planning and execution of customer projects, with a strong focus on going on-site, training installers, and applying carpentry and product engineering skills to ensure successful outcomes. You will oversee projects from intake to completion, serving as the primary point of contact for customers and production partnerstoensure products meet cost, time, and quality goals. This role emphasizes understanding construction methods, product manufacturability, and on-the-ground installation processes. Leadership, accountability, problem solving, and adaptability will be key, as you’ll create and implement actionable plans, identify risks, and train teams to achieve excellence on every project.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead multiple projects from start to completion, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Oversee coordination with external architects, engineers, and consultants during the project design phase.
- Plan and conduct site visits throughout the project duration.
- Ensure seamless coordination with manufacturing, supply chain, and shipping partners, as well as on-site contractors, from procurement to project delivery.
- Work closely with our Product Designer and manufacturing partner to ensure accuracy in engineering drawings and compliance with product specifications.
- Identify, document, and resolve project risks, reporting issues and solutions to the team.
- Collaborate with sales and design teams to develop project schedules and cost estimates for client proposals.
- Provide data-driven project updates to the internal team, clients, and partners.
- Translate project outcomes into product improvements by working closely with the product team, providing engineering analyses, informing requirements, and new product introduction (NPI).
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of relevant experience in project management, construction management, supply chain coordination, architecture, or related fields.
- A degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or Engineering are preferred but not required. Project Management Certifications such as PMP are a plus.
- Hands-on experience in casework or furniture. Knowledge of interior construction, finishes, and MEP systems.
- Experience reading plans and a strong understanding of building codes.
- Proactive problem solving, clear written and verbal communication, ability to manage time independently.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace is required. Experience with Autodesk software is a plus.
- Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
COMPENSATION
- Full-Time Position. $75K - $90K Salary, based on experience, along with equity compensation.
- In-person 3-5 days per week. Workspace on Embarcadero in San Francisco. Travel to job sites as needed.
