Southern California General Engineering and Building Contractor is looking for a Project Engineer/Project Coordinator, to work on Public Works projects. Work will be out of our Newport Beach office. The candidate must have strong computer skills, must be proficient in all Microsoft products; demonstrate great organization skills, read plan and be willing and eager to learn. A construction project engineer has many responsibilities, including:
- Coordinating
- with Project Manager, Subcontractors, on site personnel and some times the job owner to schedule coordination of job site activities
- Ensuring quality: Ensuring quality control and quality assurance for all deliverables
- Communicating: Keeping stakeholders and senior management informed of the project's status
- Managing risk: Identifying opportunities for improvement and managing project risks
- Providing support: Offering technical support to the project team
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with safety regulations, environmental requirements, and building codes
- Reviewing: Reviewing project plans, specifications, and contracts
- Resolving issues: Quickly identifying and creatively solving project issues
- Time management
- organizing their time and the fields schedules.
- Time cards
- Preparing and submitting of timecards for the field
- Submittals
- Preparing and reviewing of project submittals
- Ordering MaterialsPerforming takeoffs and assisting with the procurement of materials and ordering and calling off of on site equipment.
- Various assigned tasks from Project Manager, Senior Project Manager or President.
- Reading Blueprints/Plan: Reviewing multi-disciplinary project drawings, performing calculations for takeoffs, and reviewing technical submittal data often requires advanced knowledge and specialized learning in the fields of math & science.
Construction project engineers need to have a strong technical understanding of their field and excellent project management skills. They also need to be able to manage their time well.
