Position Overview:
As a Project Engineer at Cleantek, you’ll be the bridge between project management and design/development, playing a vital role in the management of site development of high-powered DC and Level 2 AC EV charging projects. This role involves overseeing detailed engineering designs,coordinating with jurisdictions, regulatory bodies, vendors and ensuring quality and timely project delivery. You’ll also ensure quality control, upholding and providing guidance on engineering best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Assessments: Visit proposed project locations, working with clients and property owners to determine civil, ADA and electrical feasibility for planned EV infrastructure. Conduct 3D scans, measurements, and reports, from which drafters/designers can generate base maps and plan sets.
- Construction Plan Development: Schedule survey crews, manage design and review each design stage of construction plans to meet Cleantek Standards for commercial and industrial EV charging. Projects may also include the potential for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Solar. Ensuring designs are efficient, scalable, and future-ready.
- Project Design: instruct and guide drafters, designers and engineers, by issuing projects, reviewing construction drawings to confirm the correct specifications of electrical equipment, wiring, and conduit sizes, with a focus on scalability for future expansion (e.g., additional chargers, BESS, or solar).
- Drafting & Design: Prepare and refine civil, electrical, and detailed engineering plans using AutoCAD, ensuring all designs meet accuracy and compliance standards and are ready for permitting.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain organized control of project files through document management systems, ensuring that all design files and project information remain accurate and up-to-date.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with the project manager to oversee scheduling, manage land surveys, and ensure all steps of the design and permitting processes remain on track.
- Permitting and Compliance: Review construction plan sheets for permitting, manage submittals and address comments, changes, and requests arising from permit reviews and utility applications.
- Departmental Reporting: Create and deliver regular status reports to the project management team and department heads, providing updates on project progress, potential delays, and completion timelines.
- Documentation and Standards Development: Contribute to and refine Cleantek’s standard operating procedures, design guidelines, and engineering standards for EV infrastructure projects.
- Process Development: Support the growth of internal systems and processes, contributing to operational efficiency and Cleantek’s continued success.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction or similar from an accredited university (preferred).
- Experience: 3+ years in civil/electrical design, ideally within EV infrastructure or a related field, with experience with AutoCAD. Understanding of basic electric principles and NEC code.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal abilities, a passion for electric vehicles and renewable energy, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. A natural problem solver with innovative thinking.
- Organization: Proven ability to manage multiple projects using company provided software tools and supporting evolution of new efficient process solutions.
Compensation:
- Salary: $60,000 - $100,000 depending on experience and qualifications
