Position Overview: Our client, a leader in the bulk material handling industry, is seeking a Project Engineer. This role requires a combination of engineering and project management skills to ensure successful, on-time, and on-budget project deliveries. The Project Engineer will collaborate closely with the Project Manager, handling projects from proposal generation to system handover. This position offers the opportunity to apply and develop technical skills and project management experience in a highly international environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage entire projects from concept to commissioning, including equipment engineering, estimation, supply chain/procurement, installation/commissioning, and other site activities.
- Provide technical support to the sales team for the creation of proposals, including reviewing specifications, providing estimates, customizations, and system recommendations.
- Generate, read, and modify technical drawings using 2D AutoCAD.
- Create, maintain, and track project budgets and schedules.
- Generate RFQs compliant with project specifications, obtain bids, and select reliable suppliers.
- Frequently interact with Engineering and Supply Chain departments in Germany, as well as with local Sales and Service teams in Atlanta.
- Define risks and determine which issues need to be escalated, identifying the appropriate contacts and timing to eliminate negative project impacts.
- Operate and negotiate independently within company policies, procedures, and directives.
- Coordinate all project-related activities and communication to ensure they occur within the necessary time frame for a successful project.
- Manage steel fabrication, review, and comment on vendor drawings, and maintain a fair understanding of electrical, instrumentation, and automation concepts.
- Ensure customer satisfaction throughout the entire project.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 4+ years of project engineering experience in heavy industrial projects.
- Experience interacting with vendors, technical proposal evaluation, and commercial and negotiating skills.
- Proficiency in MS Project and Primavera P6.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the bulk material handling industry, particularly in building materials, equipment manufacturing, fertilizer, or mining.
- Experience with bucket elevators, belt, drag, and screw conveyors.
