About the Job
The Project Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining new component and assembly designs that meet FAA-PMA regulations for safety and functionality. He/she must utilize design, analysis, and reverse engineering techniques to support PMA and STC projects throughout their completion. Duties include establishing new product designs, authoring engineering and certification documentation, and supporting certification efforts with the FAA. The Project Engineer will also be responsible for maintaining existing engineering data, including engineering drawings and technical documents.

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop designs, technical data packages, and certification submissions for Part Design and Manufacturer Approval Applications (domestic and foreign)
- Support Quality Assurance and vendor questions about design data interpretation, manufacturing methods, qualification or inspection methods, etc…
- Participating in the disposition of non-conforming materials, including safety, reliability, fit, form, or function and communication with Quality, vendors, and FAA as required
- Sustaining engineering data by completing design change packages through FAA approval process
- Supporting customers and operators regarding related products
- Perform other duties, as required
- Author and maintain engineering reports, drawings, test plans, and other certification specific documentation
- Perform technical analysis in support of projects and assist in prototyping and testing of new products
- Conduct and participate in technical reviews with engineering team
- Maintain engineering manuals and procedures as necessary
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other relevant engineering field
- At least 3 to 6 years aerospace design, manufacturing experience, and/ or aerospace testing or maintenance
- Working knowledge with CAD modeling and drafting software
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office; especially Word and Excel
- Knowledgeable in mathematical concepts such as statistics, geometry, and modeling techniques
- Strong organizational and reasoning skills with explicit attention to detail, practical logic in defining problems, collection data, establishing accurate facts for valid and feasible conclusions
- Robust interpersonal skills to work within an open and connected team environment while staying on task
- Working knowledge of FAA Procedural and Airworthiness regulations (14 CFR Parts 21, 23, 25)
- Previous experience with FAA-PMA and STC product certification
- Experience with metrology equipment (calipers, optical comparator, CMM, etc.)
- Working knowledge of reading and understanding material and process specifications (ASTM, MIL, AMS, etc.)
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes (machining, molding, welding, etc.)
- Knowledge and ability to apply geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
- Strong communication skills, verbal & written
- Developed professional able to work with minimum guidance
