About the Job
DZYNE has an immediate need for a talented Project Engineer capable of supporting both on-going and emerging federal defense and commercial contracts. Desired work location is Irvine, CA.
This position requires experience in executing federal research and development (R&D) contracts, with a strong preference for experience in seeing a contract throughout its lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing projects from inception to completion. This position requires a person that can both develop process and work within defined procedures, to include government requirements. The successful candidate must have experience interfacing with a wide range of internal disciplines, customers, and active subcontractors. Specific demonstrated experience in project financials tracking, data and hardware deliverable management, and subcontractor management is desired. The successful candidate will have a background with experience in projects in the Government or Defense Contracting Industry.
Required Skills and Responsibilities:
- Primary Role: Work with existing program managers to aid in the successful execution of their respective programs.
- Manage and track project financials, deliverables, artifacts, and plans. Subcontractor project financials, deliverables, and artifacts.
- Implement and execute proper controls to proactively support, monitor and communicate budget, actual status and forecast costs for internal and subcontracted projects.
- Develop and issue timely reports.
- Assist in the preparation of cost proposals
- Review and edit documentation such as deliverables and artifacts
- Proofing, editing, and formatting all communications to ensure a uniform and clear standard for all documents
- Capturing key project elements and keeping concise and clear records
- Attending regular meetings with project leadership and team members
- Setup and coordinate meetings
- Documenting and distributing action items
- Assisting with recognizing, monitoring, and providing potential solutions for risks/issues
- Support proposal review; risk assessment/management; terms, conditions, licensing, and pricing negotiation; and conflict resolution
- Provide detailed, accurate analysis of proposal, contract, and subcontract terms and conditions
- Provide support to and work within a team of technical and administrative professionals, providing guidance on contracts obligations
- Budget Financials experience
- Positive, “can-do” attitude and talent/experience leading people and cultivating a healthy customer relationship
- Proven ability, capacity, and aptitude with planning, organizing, supervising, coordinating technical work, and obtaining cooperation from others
- High level of scheduling skills
- Skilled in the use of IT tools, including spreadsheets, word processing, planning, and scheduling software.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of the entire Microsoft Office Professional Suite to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Superb organizational and documentation skills
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience with SBIR contracts, and working on a technology and R&D project.
- Experience working and supporting multiple teams.
- Experience working on a client-focused project, resourceful, takes initiative, and pro-active approach when solving problems.

- Program Management Professional qualifications are a plus.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 1 - 5 years of industry experience as directly supporting or leading project execution of design and development programs.
Clearance Level Required: No Security Clearance is required, but it is highly desired.
Travel: Not required for daily activities, but probable travel once per quarter.
- The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, such as a general office environment or warehouse.
- Work performed may be in a harsh climate, and often hazardous situations. While performing the duties of this position, may regularly be exposed to an extreme and austere desert environment.
- Must have the ability to stoop, stand, climb, occasionally lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
- Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine
- Involves movement between departments, floors, and worksites to facilitate work.
- May be performing physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.
