Internship Summary:Kuraray's paid internship program allows students the opportunity to obtain valuable, applicable work experience in a fast-paced, and challenging environment. The program blends real-world experience with an extensive overview of the chemical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The internship will be 13 weeks in duration for the summer of 2024 with flexible start dates. Student interns must be able to work full-time. The internship will be split between a major project and daily tasks. No Housing will be provided as part of the internship. The internship will be split between a major project and daily tasks focused on the installation of a pilot-scale twin screw extruder for the extrusion of Planticâ„¢ (biobased, biodegradable barrier resin) at the Kuraray Research and Technical Center (KRTC). The purpose of the extruder is to be used for Research & Development and quality assessment of new resins produced commercially at KPAC (Kuraray Plantic & Compounding) facility located a few miles from the KRTC.Responsibilities:Documentation of procured components.Verification of specifications and utility requirements for the various componentsRedline and update building drawingsWork with assigned Project Engineer and Research Assistants on a recommendation for mechanical layout for the extruderConduct PHA recommendations and status of implementation.Review Process Safety Information accuracy of past changes initiated through the MOC system.Identify equipment failure modes and create maintenance program to address them.Redline P&IDs and walk P&IDs in field to checking accuracy.Work with craftsmen to activity learn as an EngineerComplete projects that will require working in the field. Time will be split evenly with office and field workActively interact with mentors, supervisors, and managers to grown as an engineerOrganization on analyzing systems to determine the correct equipment based on operating conditions.Take photos and upload digital images of all of equipment tags into the equipment databaseSet up and procure parts for critical equipment in SAPFollow-up on equipment field installation and start-up testingPlan and schedule a preliminary process safety review Qualifications:Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.Pursuing a B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical).Completed at least one year of college education before beginning internship.Strong academic performance minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA and extracurricular achievement.Demonstrated communication and leadership skills.Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven track record of adaptability, innovation, initiative and integrity.Must have legal U.S. working authorization to participate in the program.Must successfully pass pre-employment screening process.Must be at least 18 years of age.Must have a valid driver's license Please apply online at: http://www.kuraray.us.com/careers/ Kuraray America, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer AA M/F/disability/protected veteran status No third party candidates accepted.
