Job Overview:
The Program Management/Construction Management (PMCM) Division of APTIM is seeking an experienced and talented Project Inspector to join our team and manage construction projects in New York City. The candidate will have experience working on Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build projects from concept through design, construction, commissioning, and closeout. The candidate will have extensive experience managing onsite construction inspection activities on major construction projects involving New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).

Responsibilities:
+ Provide inspection and project engineering management, including client relationships, managing scope, schedule, budget, deliverables and change orders for facilities and buildings, associated infrastructure and site improvements.
+ Plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls the project in accordance with Client's policies, procedures, systems, and requirements.
+ Participates and/or leads project meetings and planning sessions with engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders
+ Ensures contractor remains on-schedule and under budget for project delivery
+ Review and manage construction project aspects such as RFI's and Submittals; ensure all stakeholders and responsible parties are on time and through with responses and directives
+ Implements proper project documents on all project components including but not limited to project changes to support potential Change Orders and/or Claims; document controls, etc
+ Monitor construction progress and quality. Reviews and approves quantities of work for monthly estimates.
+ Facilitate and/or coordinate resolutions to questions or other construction issues
+ Serve as subject matter expert on construction matters and liaison between the Project Manager and the field teams
+ Assist with coordination and execution of utility and service shut-downs and start-ups
+ Through active risk management, protects the Client from unnecessary risks; maintain Risk Register.
+ Oversees activities of technical and administrative support and ensures that deliverables are produced on schedule and within budget.
+ Track project close-out issues
+ Coordination and issue resolution with various project stakeholders including but not limited to architects/engineers, contractors, and sub-contractors
+ Performs substantial and final inspections
+ Monitors project safety and quality programs.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management is preferred
+ Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification and/or Engineer In Training (EIT) certification is a plus
+ Minimum of 3 years of field experience in construction management, engineering, and consulting industry, specifically on major New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) capital projects.
+ Knowledge and experience using eBuilder, or equivalent electronic project management system, is considered a positive.
+ Skilled in computer technologies such as Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.
+ Excellent communications and client relations skills.
+ Must have the ability to work as a team player.
+ Must have a self-starter attitude with proactive, results-oriented focus
+ Must be able to interface with a variety of people with different technical levels and educational backgrounds and must be able to produce accurate and timely results while maintaining a positive attitude.
