Responsibilities
- Develop engineering proposals for turnkey solutions utilizing standard templates, pricing worksheets and corporate pricing guidelines.
- Demonstrate the technical expertise necessary to specify automation products to fulfill customer specifications and budgets.
- Perform project execution responsibilities including system concept and design, specification of bills of materials, programming of automation devices, and onsite commissioning.
- Manage projects to ensure conformity to the approved proposal, schedule, project profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Deliver training of the automation products sold by our distribution partners for both internal and external audiences.
- Conduct field service calls to troubleshoot, replace or modify existing automation systems or components.
- Participate in joint sales calls or site visits with the outside sales staff to drive future sales.
- Help develop younger engineers via mentorship and on-the-job training.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Ensure all administrative documents are accurate and current, including project files, timesheets, and corporate expenditures.
- Some overnight travel is required to customer sites or training locations, including occasional stays for 3-4 nights. Most work is local or regional, but could be nationwide.
- Provide account intelligence to Sales when communicating with or visiting customers.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional experience utilizing one or more of the industrial automation technologies previously referenced (Vision, Robotics, Controls)
- BS degree in an engineering specialty with a preference towards Electrical engineering
- Familiarity with automation brands typically utilized by TAG Solutions including:
- Robotics: Epson, Universal Robots, MiR, Kawasaki, FANUC
- Machine Vision: Cognex, LMI, SICK
- Controls: Emerson, Allen-Bradley, Siemens
- Understanding of basic electrical design principles using software applications such as AutoCAD
- Understanding of basic mechanical design principles using software application such as Fusion 360
- A valid driver's license.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
