Job Summary:
The Project Engineer I is responsible for the technical design and engineering schedule of Combustion/SCR/SNCR systems. The technical design of projects will encompass multiple engineering disciplines (process, mechanical, structural, electrical, controls) in which the Project Engineer is either directly or indirectly involved. The Project Engineer is expected to execute the engineering and design phase of the project in a timely manner and provide a technical design that satisfies the customer’s requirements while being sensitive to the project budget. The Project Engineer will interface with an internal fabrication shop, external fabricators, external engineered-component suppliers, and third-party engineers. The Project Engineer will be responsible for multiple projects running concurrently. In addition to executing projects, the Project Engineer may provide a limited amount of support to sales, aftermarket, and field service.
Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Engineer systems (systems can include multiple technical solutions such as Combustion, SCR and SNCR) for a variety of industry applications including combined cycle (HRSGs), simple cycle gas turbines, packaged boilers, fired heaters, and industrial boilers.
- Develops the technical design of the systems, including burners, igniters, fuel control equipment, fans and mounting equipment.
- Develops the technical design of the systems, including all skids, injection piping, ductwork, internal frames, catalyst
- Develops the technical design of ammonia storage and handling systems, including all vaporizer skids, pump skids, storage tanks, and unloading skids
- Development for all process, mechanical, structural, electrical, instrument, and control elements of equipment design
- Knowledgeable of equipment drawings, including P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, detailed fabrication drawings, electrical schematics
- Incorporates customer specifications and requirements into equipment design
- Generates all required engineering documents for equipment design and customer interface information
- Works with design group in the generation of engineering deliverables for customer approval
- Works with customers to obtain approval of proposed design
- Works with design group in the generation of engineering deliverables for detailed fabrication drawings and documents
- Provides technical support for fabricators during the construction of equipment
- Performs inspection of equipment at fabricators’ shop
- Responsible for all engineering commitments in the project schedule
- Engineers the equipment while maintaining or beating the budget cost to build
- Communicates directly with customers, suppliers, fabricators, and sales
- May participate in new product or product development strategies
- Collaborates with project management to maintain schedule and seek out change orders
- Field test support and operation of Emissions Test Trailer and other critical test equipment
- On site support testing for Combustion and SCR/SNCR projects
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Able to travel up to 25%; required
- MS Office Suite; required
- Location in Monroe, CT office required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering
- 0-5 years of related engineering experience preferred
- Environmental Industry experience preferred
- Boiler Combustion / Air Pollution Control Systems experience preferred
- Proficiency with AUTOCAD 2D (or similar) Preferred
- Solid Modeling -3D CAD (Inventor/SolidWorks) is considered a positive
ADA REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this function typically require typing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
- Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
- The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job.
- Compliance with company attendance standards.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel.
