Project Engineer - Civil/Environmental - Weston & Sampson

Weston & Sampson is currently seeking a Project Civil/Environmental Engineer with 4-8 years of relevant experience for our Reading MA office. The candidate will be well-rounded engineer capable of working on a variety of often multi-disciplinary civil and environmental engineering projects.

What you’ll do:

• Work closely with our project managers and civil/environmental professionals on a variety of civil and environmental engineering and construction assignments. Typical projects include site assessment and remediation, landfill capping and closure, solid waste facility permitting and design, building abatement/demolition, underground storage tank removal/replacement, site/civil/stormwater design, and renewable energy facility design. Help supervise and coordinate project teams to perform engineering studies and designs using recognized industry standards and regulatory-compliant approaches.
• Coordinate staff performing environmental assessment, remedial oversight, and construction monitoring activities, on MCP cleanup sites and redevelopment projects.
• Review, manage and process construction-phase documentation including submittals, change order requests, and pay applications in coordination with project team.
• Prepare reports and technical memoranda for a variety of environmental projects including environmental assessment, MCP compliance, solid waste permitting, feasibility studies, and engineering design reports.
• Coordinate task scheduling and design deliverables across a variety of environmental and engineering disciplines on multi-disciplinary design and construction projects.
• Prepare engineering design documents including plans, details, specifications, and cost estimates for bidding purposes.
• Taking ownership of tasks and working collaboratively to achieve client objectives and project goals.
• Help develop and define project scope, schedule, and budget; determine work procedures, staffing, and sub-consultant assignments.
• Project monitoring and management of schedules.

What you will bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering or related field.
• PE license or be on track to obtai
• Ability to manage the workload demands of diverse projects and track and achieve regulatory and construction deadlines.
• Experience delegating and mentoring, following-up, and working across disciplines on complex projects.
• Working knowledge of civil/environmental design tools including AutoCAD, GIS, HydroCAD, and HELP model.
• Experience overseeing field services (e.g., construction observation, soils logging, drilling oversight, monitoring well installation and sampling) a requirement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
