Job Summary:
As a Project Engineer, you will work both independently and in collaboration with our professionals to complete various deliverables and reports for special districts throughout Colorado and Utah. Tasks include cost certifications, infrastructure conveyance, cost estimates, cost share analysis, jurisdictional reimbursement requests, and project management. You will also have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and expertise by participating in project bidding, pay application review, change order review, corrective action punch lists creation, and project closeout. This position is 80% office and 20% field work. Some travel may be necessary.
Responsibilities:
A Project Engineer will be responsible for performing entry-level professional tasks in aid of our services.
- Serve as a District Engineer on behalf of Metropolitan Districts, identifying possible issues and developing corrective action plans
- Attend client and public meetings as needed
- Liaise with developers, district legal counsel, and district accountants on an ongoing basis to ensure all parties are aligned with project goals, timelines, and that the deliverables are to the client’s satisfaction
- Prepare draft deliverables based on input from others as well as individual efforts
- Develop and maintain electronic data sets, files, and troubleshoot existing programs
- Respond to requests for data and information from internal staff and clients
- Interpret drawings and specifications to perform takeoffs used in construction cost models
- Review project bid summaries and participate in interviews related to contractor selection and negotiation
- Negotiate and issue change orders to resolve cost and schedule conflicts
- Monitor contractor progress and production to issue progress payment approvals
- Aid in business development tasks as requested
- Assist project managers on other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- The ideal candidate will have a familiarity with special districts or a desire to learn and grow in the industry.
- Self-motivated with regular reliable attendance under limited supervision
- Demonstrate ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple clients under tight time constraints
- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally to foster relationships that enhance a cooperative team environment both internally and externally
- Ability to resolve conflicts in a diplomatic manner
- Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences
- Ability to edit reports and contractual documents for consistency and grammar
- Proficient in MS office and outlook. AutoCAD and Bluebeam proficiency is a plus
- Must have a valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university. 0-5 years related experience.
- Remote Pilot Certificate is a plus
- Ability to obtain a professional engineering license within 4 years
Compensation:
The base salary compensation will be determined based on proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Salary range for this position is $65k-$85K
