Chen Moore and Associates is hiring a Project Electrical Engineer - Lighting Engineer. The Project Electrical Engineer will provide program management support and oversight related to Broward County Transportation Department's (BCT) capital projects (Capital Projects) for the 30-year Transportation Surtax that is anticipated to receive over $16 Billion in local funds for transportation projects between 2019-2048. The Transportation Surtax Plan provides for various Capital Projects including approximately 32.6 miles of Light Rail Transit (LRT), 150 miles of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), new transit service systemwide, new local bus routes, realignment and extension of existing fixed bus routes, expansion of the community shuttle program, new Mobility on Demand (MOD) service, and other multimodal investments and transit facility expansions and improvements.
Candidates should be able to efficiently plan and organize workload, demonstrate success working with a team of professionals, a commitment to quality, good communication skills, and a positive work ethic. Florida Department of Transportation experience is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project Management.
- Proposal preparation.
- Project and budget coordination
- Perform Technical Coordination with Clients/Prime consultants and external stakeholders including, but not limited to other Discipline Leads, Power Utilities, Telecom Providers, Cities, Counties, etc.
- Perform Quality Traffic Design, not limited to lighting, ITS, and electrical design.
- Prepare and check mark-ups on all assignments.
- Prepare technical reports such as Lighting Design Analysis Reports (LDAR), Power Design Analysis Report (PDAR), and Lighting Justification Report (LJR).
- Perform Plan Reviews on Program Management or Plan Review Contracts.
- Perform photometric calculations in AGI-32 software.
- Perform electrical calculations such as load analysis, voltage drop, short circuit, arc flash hazard analysis, and device coordination utilizing SKM Power Tools.
- Prepare for and attend field visits and meetings during design and post-design phases.
- Conduct Quality Post Design Services Support: Shop drawing reviews, revisions, RFI responses, field visits, and Project close-outs.
- Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) of all Staff Deliverables.
- Supervise technical staff members. Includes mentoring junior staff and future hires.
- Support in marketing pursuits.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Candidate shall have a minimum of five (5) years of experience designing and producing CAD plans for the lighting and/or ITS disciplines.
- Proficiency in software such as MicroStation, Geopak, and AutoCAD.
- Experience managing lighting projects in the Transportation Industry for Clients such as FDOT, MDX, MDC, CFX, or other tolling agencies.
- Experience in ORD / FDOTConnect.
- Have familiarity with the NEC and NESC.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Strong sense of urgency, project responsibility and initiative.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
