Job Description
Vanir is seeking a Project Director with proven leadership quality and strong communication skill who can build on our continued success in the justice market. To date, Vanir has managed more than 270 justice projects valued at over $5 billion, including new and renovated courthouses, police facilities, jails, prisons, juvenile detention centers, and emergency operations facilities. This will be a remote position during design phase; required on-site during construction (2025-2028).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The primary duties of a successful Project Director will focus on leadership, estimating, contract negotiation, scheduling, cost management and forecasting, client relations, design coordination, planning, and change management. The Project Director is responsible for ensuring client satisfaction with our services on assigned projects.
This position will collaborate with senior managers, estimators, schedulers and other construction professionals across Vanir’s divisions. This position will report to the Area Manager.
The Project Director is responsible for on-site project operations and management, including the ability to:
- Act in an advisory role assisting the client with initiating and setting goals for programs based on the strategic objectives
- Provide leads on new work from existing clients
- Identify new marketing opportunities and develops leads for new projects
- Assist in proposal preparation and coordinating interviews
- Represent Vanir or client in public forums and meetings
- Negotiate and monitor fee consumption and actual contribution versus budget.
- Ensure Project Management Plan and Procedures Manuals are developed in accordance with contract requirements
- Supervise project team and ensures quality services consistent with Vanir procedures, client goals, and contract responsibilities on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
- Function as, or assigns, the Facility Administrator role in Vanir's Injury Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and performs all duties. Works closely with Vanir Director of Health, Risk and Safety to resolve safety concerns or questions
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture is required
- 15+ years of recent experience providing project and program management services on large justice and jail projects in excess of $500 million is required
- A strong technical and practical background in justice, jail, and/or detention facility construction projects
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to work well in a team environment is critical
- Knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices
- Experience with project delivery methods including CMAR, Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build
