About the Job
Lumos & Associates is currently seeking an experienced Civil Designer to produce high-quality work, and initiates and creates project designs and plans with responsibility for preparing presentations and design drawings. This position will require a personable candidate with experience in all phases of engineering including substantial and varied experience in project planning and design. This position will work out of a Lumos & Associates office: Nevada - Reno, Carson City, Fallon, South Lake Tahoe, or California - El Dorado Hills. Office location will be determined as part of the selection process.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform technical drafting support for assigned projects and prepare engineering drawings using CAD Civil 3D software according to established standards and procedures.
- Perform planning and analysis for assigned projects using ArcPRO GIS software, according to established standards and procedures.
- Independently assist with conceptual grading analyses and site layout.
- Assist with preparing due diligence/site analysis reports, including water and sewer reports, conceptual drainage reports, engineer's opinion of probable costs, utility computations, detention/retention computations, and civil design. More independent development on these components and requiring less initial direction.
- Production of final civil design drawings.
- Prepare permit applications.
- Regularly meet with directing staff to review work progress, quality, budget, and schedules.
- Coordinate with outside utility companies and municipalities to gather information necessary for design.
- With assistance as necessary, conduct field visits, construction site visits, and learn about the aspects of construction assistance activities (verify quantities, field reports, process pay applications, etc.).
- Use computer modeling software to assist with modeling efforts (water, sewer, stormwater). Assist with report writing associated with modeling.
- Maintain organization of project files, drawings, reports, correspondence and applications within the project folder.
- Manage project drawing files in the network system.
- Perform other miscellaneous technical and non-technical duties as assigned.
- Mentor interns, engineering technicians.
- Understand deadlines and project schedules provided by Project Manager, timely completion of project task deliverables.
- Assist with planning, engineering, and design staff to determine design modifications and enter editing information into computer.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with emphasis in Civil Engineering; or a minimum of two years related AEC experience and/or training with a background in CAD design; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of related engineering design experience.
- Engineer Intern (E.I.), (passed FE exam), preferred for PE path individuals.
- Experience with CAD Civil 3D preparing a variety of site plans, grading plans, civil plan sets, plan and profile sheets, and utility plans. Knowledge of and ability to apply CAD standards.
- Basic understanding of grading and drainage concepts, as well as utility design standards for water and sewer distribution.
- Ability to work hours necessary to complete work within required time frames with regard to deadlines.
- Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook).
- Valid driver's license and driving record with 3 or less demerit points.
