Project Controller
Primary Job Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Employment Format: Hybrid 50% onsite
Position Overview: The Project Controller plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial success and stability of projects within the organization. Working closely with the Project Team, the Financial Controller is responsible for developing project budgets, tracking financial performance, and providing accurate and timely financial reporting.
Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Project Team to develop the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and project budgets.

Work with Work Package Leaders (WPL) to develop accurate cost-to-complete estimates and percent complete evaluations.

Track, monitor, and report planned budgets/forecasts versus actual spend using project controlling tools (SAP, PCS, and Primavera).

Provide variance explanations and propose recovery plan actions.

Review the latest schedule with the Project Planner and quarterly report the Earned Value.

Prepare monthly reports on project results.

Assist with the preparation, processing, and tracking of contract Change Orders.

Collaborate with the Project Manager to prepare and track potential claims for additional work.

Track internal and external invoicing and reconcile cash receipts and retention.

Understand and report on the cash flow position of the project.

Work with global controllers for Intracompany projects.

Track subcontractor invoicing, payments, and reconciliations.

Review and approve Purchase Order Requisitions in alignment with the budget and track Purchase Orders in PCS.

Prepare quarterly forecasts and annual budgets, reporting key performance indicators for the project.

Monitor the financial "health" of the project and raise the "red flag" when negative impacts or conditions arise.
Qualifications:
Required:
-
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field

Minimum of 2 years of experience in project financial controlling, preferably in the engineering industry

Experience with project controlling tools such as SAP, PCS, and Primavera

Strong financial planning and budgeting skills

Proficiency in financial tracking and reporting

Contract management and negotiation skills

Ability to manage invoicing, cash flow, and reconciliation

Experience in Purchase Order management and forecasting

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

Project level experience
Recommended:
-
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
-
Experience with Intracompany project management.
-
Experience in global project financial management.
