POSITION SUMMARY:
Project Assistant will work under the direction of the Information Security Manager. The Project Assistant - Technical Writer will contribute to our efforts in promoting cybersecurity awareness and best practices within our university community. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in both cybersecurity and technical writing to gain valuable experience in a higher education setting.
NOTE: The timeframe for this role is June 3 rd – August 9 th, 2024
**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:**
Work under the guidance of the department, Information Security and administration teams to assist with and/or actively lead activities pertaining to the assigned project including:
+ Collaborate with cybersecurity specialists to research, develop, and maintain knowledge-based materials on Identity & Access Management topics relevant to university students, faculty, and staff.
+ Assist in creating engaging and accessible content, including training modules, and informational resources.
+ Work closely with subject matter experts to translate technical concepts and policies into clear, user-friendly documentation and guides.
+ Support the development and delivery of cybersecurity awareness campaigns and training initiatives, including presentations, workshops, and interactive exercises.
Learn and utilize cybersecurity processes and tools to create technical documentation, training materials and awareness campaigns.
Track lessons learned throughout assignment for presentation to UIT leadership team.
Learn and demonstrate use of Microsoft Office toolset, SharePoint, and other project office collaboration tools.
Work closely with manager, establishing a goal plan with objectives to be completed by conclusion of assignment.

**REQUIREMENTS:**
+ High school diploma or equivalent required
+ Matriculated in an undergraduate studies program in IT, business administration, healthcare administration, engineering, or related field preferred.
+ 1+ year of work experience is preferred.
+ or an equivalent combination of education training and/or experience required
+ No professional work experience is required.
+ Technical aptitude with ability to quickly learn new technology preferred.
+ Ability to express complex concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing preferred.
+ Solution oriented with a positive attitude preferred.
+ Strong ability to prioritize. Strong attention to detail preferred.
+ Reliable and able to establish trust with your team.
+ No professional certification required. Must be able to travel to designated sites as assigned.

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $16.50 - $21.45 Hourly
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
