We are a a civil construction firm seeking a project accountant to join our team. This position plays a critical role in our organization, providing financial oversight and analysis for our construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of project accounting, including contractor invoices, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and account reconciliations. Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Manage all aspects of project accounting for multiple construction projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
2. Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and promptly.
3. Manage and process contractor invoices, ensuring correct coding and approval before payment.
4. Conduct regular account reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
5. Provide financial analysis and reporting on project performance, identifying trends and making recommendations for improvement.
6. Work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate financial tracking and forecasting.
7. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including GAAP.
8. Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 3 years of project accounting experience, ideally within the construction industry.
2. Demonstrated experience managing contractor invoices, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and conducting account reconciliations.
3. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
4. Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
5. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
6. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and provide meaningful insights.
7. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members at all levels of the organization.
8. Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
9. A proactive and independent worker, with the ability to take initiative and solve problems effectively.
10. A professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, or CA) is considered an asset.
