Position Summary: The Project Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day financial administration of direct projects and serves as the liaison between accounting, project management, and other project support functions.

- Timely accumulate, validate, and review all project costs consistent with the Company's defined cost structure.
- Prepare, process, and remit compliant invoices. Communicate with the Company's customers to enable the timely remittance of amounts due. Maintain and distribute routine Accounts Receivable reports.
- Administer tasks within the Company's cost accounting system (Deltek Costpoint) including the setup and maintenance of projects and workforce. Maintain data and document integrity within the cost accounting system and department filing systems.
- Reconcile project funding and costs to produce routine and ad-hoc project financial analysis and reporting. Support project forecasting and reconciliation of project budgets. Timely report project financial risks and funding limitation notices.
- Reconcile project expenditures and employee expense claims for compliance with contract requirements, cost principles, and the Company's policies and accounting practices.
- Identify areas for improvement and efficiency within the department. Make suggestions and support implementation for the approved enhancement.
- Regularly communicate among department staff and with project management and other project support functions.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, finance, or accounting; or four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience as a substitute.
- Five years of experience in a finance or accounting function in support of a U.S. federal contractor.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of U.S. federal acquisition regulations (FAR) and laws governing government contracts. Familiar with public procurement strategy and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. cost accounting standards and cost principles for maintaining compliant cost structures.
Language Ability:
- Read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Respond effectively to sensitive inquiries. Make persuasive presentations on complex topics to management.
Mathematical Ability:
- Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Government Contract Accounting Ability
- Apply U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Cost Accounting Standards (when relevant), and Cost Principles to maintain compliant cost structures. Produce timely and accurate financial reports, budgets, and forecasts. Deliver compliant applications for payment.
Reasoning Ability:
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications with heavy focus on Microsoft Excel and its basic functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, SUMIF, XLOOKUP, pivot tables).
- Proficient with Deltek Costpoint ERP, including a minimum of 5 years' experience with it's Projects domain.
- Proficient with government invoicing portals (WAWF/IPP)
