Position Summary
McCormick Taylor is seeking a motivated Project Accountant to join our Accounting department. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting the financial success of our projects by collaborating closely with Project Managers (PMs) throughout each project’s life cycle. From initial budgeting to client invoicing and collections, you’ll ensure the fiscal health of assigned projects, working to maximize accuracy and efficiency. You will develop and maintain good working relationships with Project Managers and other accounting team members to see projects through to a profitable and successful completion.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Cost Proposals and Budgets: Develop accurate cost proposals and budgets for prospective projects, ensuring all financial aspects align with project requirements.
- Establish Project Setup: Ensure correct setup of budgets, billing rate tables, and invoicing templates in line with contractual terms to support accurate project tracking and billing.
- Engage in Project Kick-Off: Participate in project kick-off meetings to align financial objectives and establish clear communication with project teams.
- Invoice Preparation and Review: Prepare and review invoices to ensure accurate labor and expense charges, verifying that billing rates comply with contractual standards. Coordinate with Project Managers (PMs) to make necessary adjustments or reclassifications.
- Monitor Project Financial Health: Track project budgets and attend Project Health Meetings to collaborate with PMs in optimizing project profitability, utilizing accounting software reports and additional financial tools.
- Assist with Resource Planning: Analyze and assist PMs in using resource planning tools within Deltek Vantagepoint to align project staffing needs with budget constraints, ensuring efficient allocation of project resources.
- Manage Accounts Receivable: Analyze billing reports, monitor unbilled and overdue accounts for assigned projects, and work with client contacts to resolve outstanding payments, documenting all progress effectively.
- Complete Project Close-Out: Oversee project close-out procedures, including final invoicing, subconsultant billing, and completing closeout tasks in the accounting software to ensure comprehensive project closure.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (business, accounting, finance) required
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar accounting role; A/E/C industry experience a plus
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel
- Knowledge of Deltek Vantagepoint is a plus
