Project Accountant – Architectural Design Co - Norfolk – Pay to $77K + Bonus

A dynamic, successful, and growing architectural design company in Norfolk is seeking a PROJECT ACCOUNTANT to join its corporate accounting team.

The project accountant will manage the financial aspects of large projects and act as the point of contact for project finance with various departments and clients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Act as the first line of communication for contract documents, project setup, change orders and other contract modifications
• Regularly communicate with marketing, project managers, project admin team, and client to update on project status, answer questions, and resolve issues
• Prepare invoices for projects, including all applicable backup and documentation needed
• Research any unbilled issues to ensure billing is completed within correct billing period
• Ensure payment of outstanding invoice
• Set up new projects
• Set up and maintain project budgets
• Transfer employee billable hours and/or expenses to correct projects
• Request Client information and Certificate of Insurance as needed
• Prepare Revenue Forecast and assist project managers with updating the percent complete to be billed 
• Review project documents and financial reports to ensure accuracy, research variances 

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 2+ years of project accounting, billing, or general ledger accounting experience
• Architectural, engineering, construction, or government contracting industry is highly preferred
• Robust systems knowledge including advanced Excel; and experience with accounting software, database tools, and ERPs; with Deltek Vision preferred
• Dynamic self-starter with excellent collaboration and communication skills at all levels
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize to meet multiple deadlines, and produce high quality work product
