Job Description:
As a Project Accountant, you will be instrumental in supporting the project management team on large construction projects by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information relating to the project. You will work closely with a Project Manager/Executive and other financial staff to manage day-to-day functions related to Accounts Payable, Billings, Projections/Budgeting, and Financial Analysis. The ideal candidate will be someone who has prior project accounting experience within a construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchasing/Accounts Payable: Generate purchase orders and ensure AP invoices are processed in accurate and timely manner
Payroll: Review accuracy of time sheets to make sure labor costs are properly charged to the correct area of the project. Maintain and analyze labor billing rates specific to the project.
Projections & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of monthly job cost projections, associated revenue recognition and financial forecasts. Analyze variances and provide insights for financial planning.
Monthly Billings: Prepare and submit complex billings to customers for the project. Pull together all of the detailed cost information supporting the billings and submit necessary backup per customer requirements.
Analysis: Analyze the progress of the project to identify risks to profitability or areas for improvement to financial performance.
General Support: Assist the Project Manager/Executive with all other financially related tasks.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and support business objectives.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting or finance experience, with at least 1 year in a construction or related industry preferred.
Skills: Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. Proficiency in ERP accounting software (e.g., Sage, Spectrum, Trimble/Viewpoint) and Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and support cross-functional teams.
