The Role
The Project Accountant plays a key role in tracking and reporting on the project’s financial performance. The Project Accountant is responsible for all AP and AR functions for their assigned projects. The following are the responsibilities of a typical Project Accountant.
You will support the Mission Critical Center of Excellence which manages billions of dollars in projects annually, specializing in data center and mission-critical construction for leading technology and telecommunications clients across the United States. Focused on fast-paced, MEP-intensive projects, the group is recognized for delivering complex solutions while offering significant opportunities for career advancement within the thriving mission-critical construction industry.

Responsibilities:Process the monthly Owner requisition
- The requisition process should be well defined and agreed upon with the client
- Prior to submission to the Owner, ensure accuracy and appropriateness of charges
- Coordinate a monthly requisition review meeting with the Owner
- Give the client timely responses in writing to any questions regarding the requisition
- Understand any applicable conditions and timeframes outlined in the contract relevant to
billing, retainage and funding. - Track and follow up on outstanding receivables
Process subcontractor requisitions
- Ensure the subcontractor is complying with terms and conditions of the contract
- Instruct subcontractors on Suffolk and Owner billing requirements
- Manage monthly AP process through Textura including all required compliance document
- Coordinate with Suffolk Ops Team to review monthly requisitions for accuracy
- Verify all required approvals and compliance documents are received prior to releasing
payments - Ensure projects are compliant with the MA Prompt Pay statutes when applicable
General Accounting Functions
- Process vendor invoices
- Process budget updates
- Process cost transfers
- Process accruals
- Select invoices to be included in the weekly disbursement cycle
- Understand the drivers of Over/Underbilled amounts
- Monitor and track the cash position of the project
- Assist the Corporate Risk Manager in the administration of a Contractor Controlled Insurance
Program (CCIP) - Work closely with Project Managers and Project Executives on all facets of project accounting
and administration issues
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Ability to adapt to different personalities and management styles.
- 0-3 years of related experience.
- Outstanding team player with good interpersonal skills.
