Job Description: Project Accountant (PA)
Position Overview:
The Project Accountant (PA) plays a pivotal role in managing a select number of projects, ensuring financial accuracy, and facilitating seamless communication among various departments. This position serves as a crucial link between project management and accounting teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
Upload contract values accurately into the system.
Update and monitor project budgets to ensure alignment with financial plans.
Ensure all project costs are appropriately recorded and aligned with budgetary constraints.
Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure timely project booking to the Work in Progress (WIP) and prompt invoicing upon project closure.
Communication and Documentation:
Lead and facilitate meetings to capture vital project notes.
Ensure comprehensive documentation is maintained for each project.
Regularly update the CRM/Xcelerate platform on a weekly basis to reflect project status and financials.
Collaboration:
Engage proactively with Project Managers (PMs), Senior Project Managers (SPMs), Directors of Services (DoSs), and Vice Presidents (VPs) to ensure smooth project flow and effective communication.
Provide support and assistance to higher-level roles such as SPA or EPA as necessary.
Project Lifecycle Management:
Oversee projects from initiation in Xcelerate through to completion, ensuring each phase is meticulously managed.
Potentially assist in the collection process for outstanding payments, ensuring timely and effective follow-up.
Travel and Coordination:
Undertake short-term travel as required to facilitate project meetings or coordinate with other teams.
Assist in travel arrangements and coordination on an as-needed basis.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Prior experience in project accounting, financial management, or a similar role is preferred.
Strong proficiency in CRM/Xcelerate or similar project management software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Willingness to travel occasionally based on project requirements.
Reporting Structure:
The Project Accountant (PA) will report directly to a Senior Project Accountant (SPA) or an Executive Project Accountant (EPA), depending on the organizational structure.
