This position is ideal for someone who excels at project management and wants to have a direct impact on the customer experience and overall business unit results. The role entails managing all thin film coating projects by coordinating cross-functionally across sales, product management, engineering and operations to deliver new products, improve the profitability and production capacity of existing products, and to create a positive customer experience. The position is based in Richmond, California, approximately 30 minutes north east from San Francisco.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the thin film coating operation, generally for Aerospace and Defense, from the end of the sales process through product realization
- Lead the transition of NPI to production on all coating projects
- Serve as a centralized resource that coordinates with internal program managers, product management, engineering, operations, planning and quality functions
- Deliver regular project updates to technically sophisticated, and detail-oriented customers (the customer portfolio includes high-end commercial, aerospace, military and government organizations)
- Lead person in the resolution of coating engineering issues for internal and external stakeholders
- Present project technical, schedule and risk status to internal stakeholders
- Drive resolution of quality issues, including those requiring customer inputs
- Work with Product Manager, Coating engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to support coating related business development activities and capital needs
Education and work experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or applied science discipline
- 5+ years of experience working in a thin films coating environment
- 3+ years of direct project management experience
- U.S Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
- Working knowledge of e-beam coating chambers is desired
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a technical environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with leading root cause analysis
- Good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
