Position Overview
The Program Manager, SDV and Case Management directly supervises staff and oversees Case Management Programs including Sexual and Domestic Violence (SDV), Emergency Housing (EH), and Financial Assistance (FA). This role helps clients in need of immediate safety planning, financial assistance, and temporary housing.
This role is full-time in the office and supervises staff.
Essential Job Functions
- Supervision and support duties:
- Supervises and supports Case Management staff to ensure client needs are met.
- Empowers staff to take ownership of their individual programs.
- Provides guidance, answers questions, and acts as a resource to staff.
- Delegates tasks (intake forms, reporting, data entry, grant support, etc.).
- Ensures workload is evenly distributed to the team.
- Manages personnel performance, identifying gaps and areas to improve.
- Oversees the support provided to clients by ensuring staff are following policies and procedures so that client safety and housing needs are met. Serves as backup when needed.
- Educates team members on best practices for assisting clients regarding basic needs.
- Provides educational opportunities for team members to develop skills.
- Advocates for programs and staff and makes implementation recommendations.
- Ensures team members track budget expenditures per program guidelines.
- Grants:
- Is responsible for the SDV grant process including applications, budgets, and reporting.
- Responsible for SDV grant applications and reports.
- Oversees FA and EH grant applications and reports.
- Program management:
- Reviews program budget and forecasts future needs of the program each quarter.
- Leads biannual program reviews for SDV, FA, and EH programs to make a comprehensive assessment of each program and makes recommendations regarding policies, procedures, and program needs.
- Ensures policies and procedures are aligned with SDV accreditation standards.
- Aligns GoochlandCares' DEIB work with case management and staff practices.
- Collaborates with Development to ensure the programs are appropriately represented by reviewing the website, brochures, articles, etc.
- Collaborates with community partners (Department of Social Services, Community Service Board, local schools, the court system, senior connections, and other resources) to advocate for clients.
- Cultivates relationships community-wide and educates the public about GoochlandCares programs.
- Stays up to date with current laws related to SDV and ensures the team participates in local committees to stay updated on new resources or laws.
- Provides case management resources and support to other program staff, as needed.
- Connects clients to other GoochlandCares services or to other organizations to help them with their needs.
- Provides education to the community through outreach events including Citizens Academy, Healthy Relationship training in GCPS, Goochland Chamber, Fall Festival, Goochland Day, etc.
- Collaborates with the Volunteer Engagement Director to leverage volunteer participation to deliver our mission and steward our resources.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Requirements
The following represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of the job.
- MSW or related degree.
- 5+ years of SDV experience is required.
- Ability to be on-call to support SDV program and urgent matters.
- Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive matters in dealing with clients and staff.
- Ability to always maintain strong boundaries.
- Skilled in risk mitigation, identifying risk areas for each program and proactively addressing them.
- Ability to participate in community outreach events outside of business hours.
- Skilled in grant writing to gain and maintain funding for the programs.
- Skilled at managing and leading people and holding others accountable.
- Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills displaying a caring, tactful, diplomatic, and respectful attitude towards staff, volunteers, and clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to anticipate future staffing needs and plan accordingly.
- Ability to anticipate future program-related needs within the community.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and schedules.
- Ability to multi-task, have a strong attention to detail, and manage different priorities while understanding the big picture.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects.
- Strong self-awareness and willingness to seek assistance when needed.

- Must have a valid Virginia driver's license.
- Must be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
- Ability to learn new software programs/databases.
- Knowledge of Apricot and Vadata systems is a plus.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English is a plus.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, typing, talking, lifting, and driving.
- Occasionally may be required to wear personal protective equipment (mask, gloves, etc.).
