Summary of Position
A national leader in the Collegiate Recovery Movement, the StepUP Program helps students champion lives of recovery, achieve academic success, and thrive in a community of accountability and support. Founded in 1997, the StepUP Program remains the largest residential collegiate community of sober students in the nation.
The StepUP Program Coordinator is responsible for identifying, attracting, and supporting the enrollment process for prospective students into the StepUP program. This role involves active community engagement, relationship building, and strategic outreach to promote the program and its benefits.
Primary Responsibilities
Recruitment and Community Outreach:
- Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment strategy to attract prospective students to the StepUP program.
- Conduct presentations, workshops, and information sessions at schools, community organizations, and events to promote the program.
- Utilize social media, email campaigns, and other digital marketing tools to reach potential applicants.
- Maintain a database of prospective students and track interactions and progress throughout the admissions process.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, educators, and other stakeholders to increase awareness and support for the StepUP program.
- Represent the program at community events, fairs, and meetings to engage with prospective students and their families.
- Collaborate with community organizations to create opportunities for student engagement and program promotion.
Admissions Support:
- Guide prospective students through the application and admissions process, providing information, support, and resources as needed.
- Coordinate and participate in open houses, campus tours, and orientation events for new students.
Program Support:
- Work closely with the StepUP program team to develop and refine recruitment materials, presentations, and outreach strategies.
- Gather and analyze data on recruitment efforts and community engagement to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and innovative approaches to student recruitment and community engagement.
- Provide general administrative support to the StepUP program, including scheduling, communications, and documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of program materials, reports, and presentations.
- Maintain accurate records and files, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with institutional policies.
- Handle inquiries from students, parents, and community members, providing information and directing them to appropriate resources.
- All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Typical work environment is an office. Sedentary work for long periods of time.
- Regular computer and phone use.
- Occasional evening and weekend work responsibilities.
- Local, regional, and national travel to accomplish outreach and recruitment goals - travel to be determined by outreach plan.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a passion for education, substance use recovery, and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, social work, counseling, higher education, or similar field.
- One (1) to two (2) years of experience working in mental health or the substance use disorder field AND/OR in student recruitment, admissions, or community engagement.
- Passion for education and a commitment to promoting access and opportunity for all students.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated relationships within the local recovery community.
- Proficiency in using digital marketing tools and social media platforms for outreach.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Able to show initiative; organize workflow; manage multiple projects; and handle frequent interruptions.
- Ability to reason/analyze; maintain confidentiality; and demonstrate patience and understanding.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
Additional Information
The compensation range is $50,000 - $58,000 per year, DOQ.
