Responsibilities
**Position Summary:**
With specific focus on Kearns Scholars not enrolled in any TRIO grant program in the Kearns Center, the (Program Coordinator), Kearns Scholars Program, is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating the program activities and services. This includes the design, coordination and implementation of college and graduate/industry preparatory support services for low-income, first-generation-to-college, and underrepresented College students in areas including advising, instruction, tutoring, mentoring, alumni engagement, family outreach and guidance on internships, research experiences, career planning and development and financial literacy.
**Responsibilities:**
Supervision and Leadership
+ Supervises Kearns Scholars, Academic Advisors.
+ Supervises student employees.
Strategic Planning & Reporting
+ Assists Assistant Director, College Programs in determining optimal ways to promote, grow, and execute the program.
+ Conceptualizes and implements new programmatic ideas, events, and processes to improve overall program experience and effectiveness.
+ Assesses and identifies participant needs for services and makes referrals to appropriate campus and community agencies.
+ Designs program assessment and evaluation, monitors feedback, and incorporates suggestions for improvement. Continuously and systematically evaluates the effectiveness of program initiatives and activities.
+ Helps determine appropriate characteristics for Scholars, assists with selecting new class of Kearns Scholars each year.
+ Manages program records and student information systems and is responsible for preparing annual program reports to the Assistant Director, College Programs and Director, Kearns Center.
+ Assists the Information Analyst with the maintenance of the Kearns Scholars student database.
Student Support and Curriculum Development
+ Manages an advisement portfolio of up to 60 undergraduate students. Manages an assigned caseload of advisees over a four-year period from matriculation to graduation. Provides advising and support on course planning, educational goals, career aspirations, college policies, and opportunities for engaging in campus life. Communicates regularly with students about upcoming activities and deadlines. Refers students to other offices and resources including faculty advisors and academic support services. Guides students through the major declaration process, answers questions regarding financial aid, and monitors progress toward the degree. Proactively assists students who are experiencing academic difficulties. Participates in ongoing training and professional development opportunities as a member of the larger College Advisor community on campus.
+ Assists Kearns juniors and seniors (and alumni) with graduate school applications, including reviewing personal statements, advising regarding program selection, fee waivers, and all other components of application process.
+ Works with team to develop Kearns curriculum. Assist with curriculum development for additional Kearns courses. Teaches Kearns workshops and course sections.
+ Assists students in developing and carrying out their academic plans, including for graduate school and beyond, helping scholars to determine appropriate academic and career choices. Track current and prior students and provide guidance for alumni.
Other duties as assigned.
+ 1-2x per year Air or automotive, travels with students and only with students) to research conferences and graduate school fairs/visits. Attend professional development training workshops as appropriate.
+ Travels with students to conferences.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree
+ Master’s degree with at least two years of experience working with students in the target (i.e., first-generation, economically disadvantaged, etc.) population (preferred).
+ 2-3 years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Supervisory experience (preferred).
+ Experience and training in fields that relate to the Center’s objective of increasing the numbers of low-income, first-generation college students who excel academically (preferred).
+ A sense of humor and the ability to work individually and in team settings is required (preferred).
+ Prefer some teaching experience at the college level (preferred).
+ Valid NYS driver’s license is (preferred)

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $53,500 - $74,900 Annually
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
