Job Description:
The RNA Institute, housed on the uptown campus in the modern Life Sciences Research Building, is one of the leading research institutes at the University at Albany. The Institute brings together researchers from academia and industry to develop and deliver tools, analytics, and early-stage discoveries necessary for the progression of RNA-based therapeutics and diagnostics. The RNA Institute mission is to advance RNA research while training the next generation of RNA scientists, which includes our commitment to increasing the number of individuals from under-represented groups at The RNA Institute and in STEM.
This position will work under the direction of The RNA Institute's Director and in coordination with the RNA Institute team to plan, organize, and operate training programs at the RNA Institute. One of the goals of these programs is to bolster trainee recruitment and retention at the RNA Institute and the State University of New York at Albany. The applicant will work collaboratively to develop, run, and monitor training programs at the RNA Institute, including completion of program milestones and coordination of activities. This work includes the day-to-day administrative tasks and miscellaneous activities associate with these training programs and in support of the mission of the RNA Institute. The applicant will network with faculty researchers, campus colleagues, and external partners to assist with RNA Institute initiatives including planning and managing program events and communications with stakeholders. The applicant will utilize exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, clear communication skills, and competency in various computer programs to further training and other programs at the RNA Institute.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Planning, organizing and assisting Institute faculty with operating RNA Institute training programs with a focus on operational success, increasing recruitment to training programs, and meeting program milestones. Work directly with training program participants to manager their participation, troubleshoot ongoing program issues, and to ensure success training experience across participants.
- Work with RNA Institute faculty and staff to write, organize and submit funding proposals for new and renewals of Institute training programs, including assisting on funding applications that incorporate components dedicated to training.
- Collect training program metrics to assess program outcomes in conjunction with other Institute and associated staff, including maintaining a database of former and current trainees, collecting information directly from trainees and mentors, and tracking trainee's future careers to align with program metrics and promote program success.
- Organize and assist in the running of training program recruiting events at the RNA Institute, in collaboration with Institute administrative staff and faculty. Connect with target audiences through various media platforms in order to raise the profile of the RNA Institute and Institute training programs.
- Assist with administrative duties in tracking and onboarding of training program participants into UAlbany, including but not limited to obtaining NetID, UAlbany email, and stipend information at the start of the program.
- Miscellaneous service in support of RNA Institute overall goals, including administrative, training, outreach and other activities as needed.

- Ability to work both collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and independently
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting institution or Associates degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting institution plus one year of administrative coordinating role
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite products

Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of work experience in an administrative coordinating or logistical role

Professional Rank and Salary Range: SL-2, $49,261-$52,000
