Program Assistant I – Pathology - Per Diem - Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center

The Program Assistant I position provides clerical and administrative support to the Fred Hutch Pathology Department. This position is at all times a courteous and polite representative of the Pathology Department and provides excellent customer service to our clients on the phone as well as clients that enter the department seeking assistance. This role performs all general front desk (receptionist) duties and external slide management. This position carries-out routine special assignments or projects in addition to performing clerical responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilites in the Pathology Department will include: 

• File pathology blocks and slides
• Open deliveries and verify package contents
• Order, receive, and put away supplies
• Accession slide Review cases
• Prepare department schedules
• Receive and process packages from UWMC and HMC
• Complete slide returns
• Send pathology materials to UWMC and HMC laboratories
• Triage phone calls

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Under direct supervision, ability to use initiative and sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities
• Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear and concise manner
• Ability to use a mouse, navigate computer programs, enter data into computer systems in accurately and efficiently
• Ability to work in a fast paced, complex healthcare environment
• Ability to establish professional relationships with patients, families, staff and providers

 

Preferred:

• Demonstrated customer service skills

The hourly pay range for this position is from $24.33 to $34.63, which includes the per diem differential, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
