We are looking for an experienced Planner to assist in the growth and expansion of our Planning + Design department.
Responsibilities:- Provide analysis and recommendations for specific project-related tasks
- Prepare GIS maps to support Planning, Design, and Engineering applications, and due diligence efforts
- Perform quality control on work prepared by Project Planners and/or Planning Interns / GIS Technicians
- Perform planning calculations to support applications such as, but not limited to, minimum/maximum densities and intensities, site areas, setbacks, population projections, impact analyses, concurrency reservations, etc.
- Communicate directly with regulatory agencies, clients, and other consultants to ensure applications are consistent with the client’s vision and regulatory requirements
- Prepare justification reports for application submittals
- Prepare complete and accurate application packages for project submittals
- Prepare project correspondence such as meeting minutes, requests for additional information, owner letters, and Project Status Reports in a timely manner as specified by the Project Manager or Sr. Project Manager
- Organize and maintain project job files and keep current on all communications, such as memos, emails, schedules, and work products in a timely manner as specified by the Project Manager or Sr. Project Manager
- Coordinate and cooperate with all other project team members and Planning Department personnel
- Assist with data collection to ensure GIS files and templates are updated regularly with the best available data
- Keep updated on trends and events within the field of Planning in order to remain competitive, fully informed, and ahead of the competition
- Able to multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time
- Able to work without close supervision and in a team environment
- Able to comprehend and apply Comprehensive Plan and Zoning policies, Special Area Studies, and technical reports related to environmental conditions, geotechnical conditions, site lighting, tree mitigation, etc.
- BA or MA/ Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Design, Geography, Geomatics, or another related field of study
- Passing the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) exam is required
- The ability to comprehend and apply Comprehensive Plan and Zoning policies, Special Area Studies, and technical reports related to environmental conditions, geotechnical conditions, site lighting, tree mitigation, etc.
- Planning and business computer applications with working knowledge of the following software and skills: Environmental Systems Research Incorporated (ESRI) ArcGIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Bluebeam, and Adobe software
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and graphical
- AutoCAD experience not required but strongly preferred

- This position will be subject to indoor and outside environmental conditions, including weather conditions such as wet and /or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments.
- Work will primarily be in the field involving long term standing and frequent walking as well as include common hazards at construction and project sites.
- Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 10-12 hours a day on occasion.
- Must have the ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk.
- Weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
- Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
