Professional Engineer / Designer Job summary
As Professional Electrical Engineer you are responsible for performing electrical power engineering tasks for electrical construction as well as agriculture related projects under the direct supervision of our upper-level engineering team. You will be responsible for being able to complete a design on all size projects at the engineering level, prepare bid packages, provide support throughout projects (including, but not limited, to spreadsheets, project meetings, and /or calls pertaining to projects current and upcoming). You’ll need the ability to understand the design - interpret technical CAD drawings and schematics of the project.
Professional Engineer / Designer Job Functions
- Obtain an exceptional understanding of our safety culture and rules
- Prepare and study technical drawings and electrical specifications to ensure that installations and designs conform to standards and customer requirements
- Modify existing drawings and create new drawings as needed to meet project timelines and requirements
- Perform a wide range of engineering tasks (computer-assisted design, engineering products, or projects)
- Ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps
- Contribute to design and review job efficiencies
- Establish construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations
- Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation support, or testing activities
- Plan layout of electrical construction projects
- Conduct field surveys
- Comprehend and interpret building codes and permit processes to be able to assist with obtaining appropriate permits to complete the electrical design package
- Coordinate closely with utilities, equipment manufacturers, and electrical project managers
- Independent self-starter with the ability to work efficiently on their own
- Able to communicate effectively with customers, staff, and project managers
- Strong leadership skills
- Able to make decisions on what is best for the project as well as the company
- Organization as well as electronic filing is top priority
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Professional Engineer / Designer Shared Responsibilities:
- Working in close partnership with others on projects
- Operate computer-assisted engineering, design software, and equipment to perform engineering tasks (CAD)
- Advise management of changing designs or additions to projects
- Analyze drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
Professional Engineer / Designer Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (preferred)
- Having or able to attain PE stamping of drawings in WI as well as multiple states
- 5+ years experience with design as well as electrical construction
- 5+ years experience in Agricultural facilities with electrical related experience
- Knowledge of applicable codes related to electronic engineering
- Experience in using the required software (including estimating)
- Proficient in design software
- Field Experience
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record to drive a company work vehicle.
