Immediate long term contract opportunity for Professional Engineer (Civil/Transportation) with direct client in Albany, NY.
Our client - a major utility firm, has an immediate need for Professional Engineer (Civil/Transportation) in Albany, NY. The particulars of the position are as follows.
Project Overview:
Professional Engineer (Civil/Transportation) Inspection Oversight Under the direction of the Engineer in charge of the Bureau of Asset Management, the consultant will be responsible for the structural inspections of a portfolio of locks, bridges, buildings, roads, retaining walls, water control structures, breakwaters, guide structures, culverts, multiuse trails, and other civil infrastructure assets, within their assigned region.
Job Functions & Responsibilities:
The consultant will perform the following engineering and engineering related duties:
• Ensure staff and consultant inspections are completed in compliance with the Structure Inspection Manual.
• Collaborate with the Director of Asset Management to update and improve the Structure Inspection Manual.
• Oversee the Flag (Structural/Safety) inventory in their allocated region.
• Review and approves reports documenting inspections.
• Coordinate scheduling and prioritization of structural inspections within a region.
• Maintain knowledge of current Federal, State, and industry standards related to the inspection of civil infrastructure.
• Prepare reports, plans, and details to support various inspection assignments.
• Complete field work as necessary to support the inspection program.
• Partner with other functional areas to drive Inspection Improvement Initiatives and recommends improvements to Inspection policies and procedures.
• Promote continuous improvement related to ensuring the safety of Canal’s civil infrastructure.
• Participates in Drone Program in various roles.
• Perform a variety of additional tasks as assigned.
Skills:
• Knowledge of various codes, standards, current laws, regulations, construction methods, and industry-wide policies and practices.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills to prepare, review, and comment on technical reports, documents, and procedures.
• Coordinate the work of consultants and other technical experts.
• Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, quantify, interpret, and utilize information for presentations and recommendations that support business strategy.
• Collaborative and team-oriented, with ability to build relationships with vendors and all stakeholders across all levels and business units.
• Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects within varying competing deadlines.
Education & Certifications:
• One year of Professional Engineering experience with transportation projects related to highways/roadways, bridges, airports, waterways or traffic management and safety systems.
• Individuals with complimentary mechanical/electrical related experience are encouraged to apply.
