Professional Civil Engineer at Haltom City

Under general direction of the City Engineer, performs complex office and field related engineering work in connection with the planning, design, review, and construction of streets, drainage, water distribution and sewer collection lines, parking areas, and other Haltom City Public Works projects; reviews construction plans for regulatory compliance; performs engineering analyses; collaborates with other divisions within Public Works.

Examples of Duties:

• Performs a variety of professional engineering functions and ensures proper construction standards are maintained for all City capital improvement projects.
• Designs water mains, sanitary sewer mains, storm drainage systems, and streets; reviews and approves plan deviations; addresses and assists in resolving field conflicts.
• Reviews construction plans and related documents for compliance with City standards and regulatory requirements.
• Conducts engineering analyses and studies as requested by the City Manager, City departments, and the public; provides technical expertise and direction to the City and other relevant parties.
• Meets and/or communicates with City residents, business owners, developers, consultants, and other government agencies regarding public works issues.
• Has familiarity with Rough Proportionality Determinations in regards to developer projects.
• Addresses public inquiries and/or complaints pertaining to infrastructure and future projects.
• Provides assistance in administering the City's Storm Water Master Plan, Sanitary Sewer Master Plan and Water Master Plan in conjunction with the City Engineer and Director of Public Works.
• Attends and participates in a variety of meetings including City Council, Planning and Zoning, Zoning Board of Adjustment, and Capital Improvement Advisory Committee meetings as needed.
• Acts on behalf of the Director of Public Works and/or City Engineer in his/her absence and performs related duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Typical Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• Five years professional civil/municipal engineering experience.
• A professional Engineering License issued by the State of Texas; or the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license through reciprocity within six (6) months.
• Certified Floodplain Manager Certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Texas Driver's License.
