Job Summary:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. The Supervisor plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, trains employees on safety and production processes, encourages a culture of teamwork and accountability, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. A majority of time is spent on the floor with the production team documenting all production activity.
This role will report to the Production Manager.
Essential Functions / Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise between 20-30 temporary & permanent employees in the production area, including Production Workers, Assistant Supervisors, Quality Control Leads & Reliefs, Mixers, Back-Up Mixers, Machine Operators. & Data Entry Clerks
- Schedule the workflow of the production team to meet daily production requirements
- Direct & manage production team members in their daily activities to maximize yield, maximize efficiency, & reduce waste/errors
- Document all production processes, including daily attendance of employees and sending a daily recap email to executives
- Must certify in-house to operate forklifts & walkie ridies competently
- Drive start-up, change-overs & shut-down activities along with controlling down time
- Responsible for controlling overtime & total payroll costs of all production employees
- Administer & implement company policies & procedures consistently & fairly
- Organize & verify daily production documentation & data entry
- Train production employees on a daily basis (both individually & in large groups) while keeping safety the highest priority; Conduct daily safety stretches, warehouse walkthroughs, & weekly toolbox trainings
- Validate manufacturing processes, identify opportunities & issues, & implement corrective actions; Strive for continuous improvement
- Evaluate & provide performance reviews to production team members & make recommendations for promotions & temporary employees to be hired as company employees
- Follow company disciplinary procedures to administer verbal & written warnings as necessary, working closely with the HR department
- Lift up to 50 pounds, lifting 30 pounds regularly
- Standing, bending, twisting, pushing & pulling repeatedly throughout a work shift
- Physically able to actively participate in a fast-paced production environment daily
- Keep work areas clean & uncluttered
- Report all safety concerns to Manager immediately
- Shift work is required; ability to rotate shifts as needed
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by Manager

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Program knowledge):
- 5 years manufacturing experience
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual - English & Spanish preferred, but not required
- Continuous improvement experience (LEAN) preferred
- Associate or Bachelors' degree preferred but not required; will train right candidate
Work Schedule:
Full time, four 10-hour shifts
Must be able to pass post-offer background check and drug test. Hiring status will be based on the results of background and drug testing.
