Summary - basic function of the role
Schedules production for various cells with the goals of continually meeting or exceeding customer delivery expectations. Responsible for inventory management in designated cells.
Shift: Monday - Friday; 6 - 3:30 pm or 7:00am - 3:30 pm, Saturdays when production needs exist.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery goals.
- Daily production capacity analysis and planning. Communicate with Value Stream Managers regarding labor requirements. Responsible for ensuring production schedules/requirements are provided to the lines on a daily basis.
- Maintains prompt and timely communication with Customer Service, including accuracy of schedules.
- Monitor and execute the process for measuring, displaying, and utilizing a pull system for Finished Goods replenishment.
- Conduct inventory analysis and management to meet established business goals. This includes slow and obsolete inventory reduction.
- Maintain Top Product & Top 500 availability by utilizing ORACLE and Excel based tools as well as and other tools and reports.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and take action through LEAN (LEAD) processes.
- Ensure that planning related processes are followed in the cells in addition to cell support functions, which includes Order Pickers.
- Support, understand and present to management cell successes and improvement items.
- Manage action items assigned though the ECN, Everest or OSHENS processes.
- Communication of shortages through whiteboard.
- Submit issues and recovery plans on less than 50% of the Top Products and Top 400 on the distress list to the Operations Leader.
- Additional tasks as assigned.
- Follow safety rules of the production floor and the specific area you work in.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of plant manufacturing processes, for example WMS/Bar coding, Capacity Planning and MES
- Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning, Kanban, Vendor Managed Inventory programs, and Purchasing
- Excellent interpersonal and cross - functional skills.
- Excellent communication skills; verbally and electronically.
- Independent decision-making, judgment and action.
- Required to be knowledgeable enough to teach a variety of tasks or jobs (from simple to complex) within defined product areas or departmental functions.
- Familiarity of current Microsoft Office programs- Including Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Understand reference drawings and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), & PRDS
Education and Experience
Education Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience Requirements:
- High degree of mechanical, technical and/or analytical knowledge and experience
- Diverse experience in multiple areas within the plant i.e. assembly, warehouse operation, etc. would be preferred
- Familiarity with assembly tools and equipment is a plus
- Basic computer skills are preferred
Physical Demands
Employee will lift 1-30 pounds intermittently and may have to lift documents/work materials up to 40 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk to a variety of primary work locations. Employee will need manual (hand) dexterity to assemble/repair small parts for long periods of time. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members at all levels within a diverse workforce.
Work Environment
Employee will be in a manufacturing environment where they may work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to vibration. Employee will be exposed to elevated levels of noise on the plant floor.
