Description
As a Machine Shop Planner at Impulse, you will be responsible for planning and scheduling machine shop work across a variety of manual, semi-automated, and automated machining processes.
Responsibilities
- Create daily and weekly schedules for 10+ machinists
- Gather inputs from multiple customers including manufacturing, tooling, prototyping, test, and design engineering
- Develop & optimize planning tools such ticketing systems, Kanban boards, progress trackers, manpower estimation, and capacity planning
- Participate in and run daily production stand-ups with stakeholders
- Order machining tools, spares, and equipment as needed
- Work directly with machinists & technicians to produce high-quality hardware
- Ensure accurate inventory control going into and out of the machining work center
- Evaluate and recommend external sources for machining overflow. Coordinate directly with purchasing and occasionally with external vendors to assist with outsource machining.
- Establish visual management systems that make it clear when parts are ready to push, pull, or are blocked
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ year of manufacturing planning and/or scheduling experience
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
- 5+ years of manufacturing planning and/or scheduling experience
- 5+ years working in a high-volume aerospace manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated expertise in metallic machining processes such as CNC, milling, lathe, EDM, etc.

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
