PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
The Production Planner will be responsible for coordinating and planning production schedules within the Fabrication Group. The role ensures efficient and timely fabrication of products to meet client and project demands, while optimizing resource utilization, minimizing downtime, and ensuring quality standards. The ideal candidate will work closely with production, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure smooth workflow and accurate job completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and manage production schedules to meet project deadlines and fabrication targets.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and components.
- Verify resource availability (material, equipment, and labor) required for production to deliver excellent customer service at optimal inventory levels.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes in project scope, material availability, and labor capacity.
- Ensure production efficiency by identifying and mitigating potential bottlenecks in the workflow.
- Collaborate with the Fabrication Group and other departments to ensure alignment between production schedules and company objectives.
- Assist Factory Leads with workforce allocation and capacity planning, ensuring optimal resource use.
- Push/pull work into the shop to improve lead times, reduce queue time, and meet scheduling needs
- Oversee and optimize the factory’s overall capacity to ensure alignment with production demands and company goals
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as lead times, production output, and material usage to maintain optimal production levels.
- Maintain accurate records of production processes, including schedules, job orders, and inventory levels.
- Prepare reports and communicate updates on production and inventory status to management.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing production efficiency and workflow.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience in production planning, preferably within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of production workflows, materials management, and supply chain processes.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in using ERP systems and production scheduling software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
