Title: Career Development Specialist Classification: Non-Exempt
Scope of Position:
Provide case management and career counseling services to job seekers who are looking to re-engage into the workforce. Provide support and assistance in all areas related to gaining and/or retaining employment and career advancement.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
• Provide individualized assessment of work, family and personal development needs and opportunities • Determine WIOA eligibility and accurately complete required documentation for enrollment • Build professional one-on-one working relationships with customers to assist in eliminating challenges that are hindrances to obtaining and retaining employment • Oversee customer activities and assist with workshop schedules • Create solutions to customer attendance problems • Maintain organized database of customers and keep detailed documentation of all contacts • Provide consistent and comprehensive case management follow-up and retention services, ensuring that post-placement contacts are made as required by specific contract, accommodating customer work schedules • Document all participant contacts and activities in case progress notes • Ensure that positive outcomes and goals are met as required by contract • Contact employers by phone, referral or in person to schedule face-to-face meetings • Introduce employers to CareerLink® services and available training programs during initial employer visit • Develop a network for potential business leads and reconnect employers who no longer utilize services • Post and maintain job orders in the PA CareerLink® system, enter employer services and open new business folders • Enter all employer information and employer contacts into appropriate systems and monitor employer activities • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
• Career counseling experience • Ability to prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts • Demonstrated telephone, computer, and written communication skills • Ability to maintain flexibility as needs of contract or contractor require • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Human Resources, or a related area • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• A valid driver's license & clean driving record required
