Manufacturing Company located in Woodstock, CT is seeking a skilled Production Manager to oversee the Coil/Shred Department.
Hours: 6:30am-3:00pm
Salary: $65,000-$80,000
Production Manager Job Summary:
The Production Manager plays a pivotal role in bridging the needs of the Company and the Department, offering leadership and support to ensure team development and productivity. This role is responsible for fostering a strong, mutually beneficial relationship between the staff and the company, aligning both parties toward success. The Production Manager oversees the daily production schedule, supervises employee performance, and ensures the smooth execution of operational objectives, with a strong emphasis on key metrics such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute the daily shift schedule, ensuring appropriate workstation assignments, rotation planning, employee training, vacations, break schedules, overtime, and coverage for absenteeism.
- Oversee and adjust production workflows as needed, ensuring that all manufacturing processes are operating efficiently and meeting established targets.
- Collaborate with the Shipping team to ensure timely delivery of products to internal stakeholders.
- Take the lead in troubleshooting machine or process failures and coordinate solutions to minimize disruptions.
- Communicate daily production goals and performance expectations to the team, providing consistent feedback and coaching to enhance individual and team performance.
- Enforce safety standards, ensure adherence to quality benchmarks, and maintain high levels of professionalism and behavioral expectations within the department.
- Continuously assess current production methods and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and reduce costs.
- Lead and drive a continuous improvement culture, leveraging Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize processes and eliminate waste.
- Take responsibility for the leadership and development of team members, using effective communication and performance management techniques to achieve departmental goals.
- Collaborate with material planning teams to ensure maximum uptime, efficient inventory management, and on-time delivery.
- Develop expertise in coiling equipment operations and troubleshooting
- Work closely with the maintenance team and technicians to ensure equipment is maintained according to company standards and to minimize downtime.
- Manage and implement a comprehensive training program focused on equipment operation, preventive maintenance, and repair procedures.
Required Experience and Skills:
- 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Maintenance experience is a plus.
- 2-5 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Proven leadership skills with a results-driven approach and strong influence on team performance.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to motivate and influence teams across all organizational levels.
- Solid analytical skills and a strong focus on process improvement.
- A flexible, collaborative, and team-oriented mindset.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
