Job Details
As the Production Manager, you’ll oversee and optimize all aspects of the manufacturing process to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety. You’ll drive team performance, mentor staff, and collaborate across departments to meet organizational goals.
You will:
- Plan and oversee manufacturing operations, including scheduling, prioritization, and resource allocation, to meet production targets.
- Use ERP systems to analyze production data and make informed decisions.
- Review engineering documents and schematics to ensure material procurement and fabrication efficiency.
- Build, modify, and maintain safety programs, promoting a culture of workplace safety.
- Set department objectives and KPIs, regularly assessing and reporting on team performance.
- Lead a high-performance team by managing staffing levels, recruitment, training, development, and appraisals.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to direct reports, fostering continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Resolve operational challenges and employee issues effectively and transparently.
- Ensure plant cleanliness and organization, with a focus on continuous improvement of shop floor practices.
- Motivate and lead by example, creating a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Train team members on continuous improvement tools and techniques to enhance productivity.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on humility and self-awareness.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and a technical, detail-oriented mindset.
- Exceptional organizational, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Competence in problem-solving, team building, and decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to manage up, down, and laterally with team members, leadership, and management.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 8 years in manufacturing and 5-7 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience with machining, fabrication, or heavy equipment assembly is a plus.
- Familiarity with managerial processes such as performance and compensation management, coaching, and employee development.
