About the Job
The Production Manager reports to The Plant Director and is responsible for designated area operations. This role will assist the Plant Director in establishing policies and procedures. Responsible for production goals. Foster a well-trained and motivated staff. Accountable for production quality, including long and short-range manufacturing planning, capital planning and establishing initiatives to achieve business objectives. Also responsible for designated production leadership.
Position Responsibilities may include:
- Direct and coordinate designated operations within company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe plant.
- Ensures department adherence to all company processes/ policies for safety, quality, human resource management and financial control.
- Interface with external and/or internal customers to provide solutions to meet customer needs.
- Oversee and manage expenses to meet company performance needs.
- Responsible for designated area production goals.
- Maintain production schedules to meet customer demand.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and delivery and in cost structure of the plant.
- Communicate all policies, procedures, performance needs, and coordinate plant activities with other parts of the organization.
- Develop and grow skills of team.
- Foster a well-trained and motivated staff.
- Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of purchasing, production, and shipping.
- Select and train plant supervisory and administrative staff.
- Schedule and conduct meetings.
- Responsible for the product quality control for the designated area.
- Attend scheduled corporate training and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Nature & Scope:
- Ensures work is aligned with the Director's expectations, goals, and vision.
- Accountable for implementation of policies, processes, and procedures for short-term results
- Decisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures, and business plan; receives guidance from Senior Manager/Director.
- Works on difficult to moderately complex issues and projects.
- Provides guidance and training to subordinates.
- Has authority to hire, recommend pay, establish performance and recommend for termination.
- Level of signing authority established by company policy/guidelines.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Results driven individual who has demonstrated ability working in a high performance-manufacturing environment.
- Strong Leadership, employee development, performance management and ability to provide clear and concise objectives to the team and delegation skills.
- Ability to effectively lead the department to improve processes, systems, and overall performance.
- Proficient with MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Includes spreadsheets, generating graphs/pivot tables, presentations.
- Attention to detail, analytical ability including ability to interpret information and make sound recommendations.
- Effective organizational and time management skills including ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Must have strong problem solving and influencing skills and proven ability to overcome objections.
- Ability to work as a team player to solve problems, contribute ideas and make continuous improvements.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills including business acumen, including meeting facilitation and presentations.
- Must possess a positive attitude and good interpersonal skills to interact daily with internal and external employees as well as Senior leaders and Executive staff.
- Strong influencing skills & ability to collaborate and lead change with various partners cross-functionally.
- Good understanding of business principles and practices; can effectively manage the parts planning function with a bottom-line result.
Competency:
- Experience:
10 years of high-volume manufacturing experience required.
- 8 plus years in a leadership role.
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED Equivalent
- Bachelor's degree - Industrial engineering/Business management, etc.
People Management: Yes
