Job Summary
Oversee and manage the production output for the Division. Implement the manufacturing strategy for productivity improvement, reduce scrap rate, minimize equipment downtime and ensure safety. Collaborate with leadership to develop supply chain strategy and lean initiatives to reduce cost of goods sold.Job Description
Responsibilities:
Manage 24/7 ,day-to-day manufacturing operation of a production staff between 100- 200 operators across multiple shifts including production supervisors plus temporary labor staff as required. Manage a labor budget in excess of $1 million per month.
Ensure a safe, clean and secure working environment by establishing and enforcing procedures, rules and regulations. Initiate fixed capital requests, monitor all production related safety and security systems and procedures on a regular basis. Conduct regular safety meetings and review the effectiveness of 6S program.
Work with Supervisors to ensure information reported and other efficiency programs are accurate and consistent with procedures and policies as developed by production and engineering.
Manage plant operations according to established company policy. Direct and coordinate all activities within the plant: coordinate requirements with leadership, sales, engineering, procurement, production, shipping/receiving, maintenance, quality functions and technology centers.
Develop and mentor staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; build and maintain employee morale and motivation; ensure the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies. Conduct semi-annually performance management for reports.
Establish continuous improvement through lean and simple kaizen initiatives in production. Report production improvements and failures and recommend solutions. Establish Key Performance Indicators related to strategy that track progress.
Ensure that production is hitting goals to reduce internal backlog and driving actions to improve daily efficiency and reduce costs
Minimize and resolve external business related complaints by maintaining liaison with local and Divisional Quality staff, and facility staff to investigate and resolve customer issues.
Required Experience:
Education
High school diploma or GED
Work Experience
5 years’ experience in manufacturing and Supply Chain (inventory management, warehouse, etc.) environment.
Additional
- Intermediate skill level in AS400, and SAP.
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
Relevant Work Experience
- At least 5 years of experience managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating and directing people as they work.
- Injection Molding experience.
