General Description: The Production Manager is tasked with overseeing the production processes. Responsibilities encompass planning and organizing production schedules, assessing project and resource requirements, setting quality standards, and estimating timescales and costs. The production scheduler and production supervisor report directly to the production manager. This role involves significant supervision and management of staff, including recruiting, training, supervising, and motivating a team of workers and production staff. Additionally, a Production Manager is responsible for selecting, ordering, and purchasing materials, managing inventory, and ensuring that materials are ordered and delivered on time.
One of the critical aspects of this role is the continuous improvement of all operations. It is vital that the production manager can generate ideas and implement lean manufacturing. Monitoring product standards and implementing quality control measures are also central to this position, as the final product must meet predetermined quality standards. This role requires effective liaison with different departments.
Adherence to health and safety regulations is a crucial responsibility to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace. Moreover, the Production Manager must be adept at problem-solving and troubleshooting, ready to address issues that arise during production, including technical faults or human resource challenges. Implementing and overseeing cost-control measures to ensure production is cost-effective and within budget is also part of the job.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Conduct job duties in a safe and efficient work environment.
· Always maintain a clean and safe work environment.
· Advanced planning on proper placement of inbound inventory. Ensure material is placed in the proper location upon arrival to avoid double handling and mixing of material.
· Perform quarterly cycle counts of all inventory items. Reconcile as needed to ensure the inventory is accurate and all inventory is accounted for.
· Communication with sales team leader and salespeople.
· Production scheduling of all value-added processes. This entails daily and even multiple times a day review of all customer orders to ensure timely processing.
· Ensure that all customer orders are given prompt attention and recognize the priorities to enable accurate scheduling consistent with customer demand, customer satisfaction, and ABD objectives.
· Regular review of all operations SOP to ensure that policies and procedures are being followed and executed to maximize quality and service.
· Follow all QC policies and procedures & assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of needed QC procedures.
· Report any problems, safety, and quality concerns to the plant manager immediately.
· Other duties as assigned.

· Ensuring Equipment Maintenance and Efficiency: Overseeing the maintenance and repair of production equipment for continuous operations.
· Problem-solving and Troubleshooting: Addressing issues during production, including technical faults or human resource problems.
· Implementing and Overseeing Cost-Control Measures: Ensuring production is cost-effective and within budget.
· Report Generation and Documentation: Preparing and maintaining production reports and personnel records.
· Lean Manufacturing: implement lean manufacturing strategies to eliminate waste and improve production efficiency.
· Idea Generation: be a self-starter. Look for out-of-the-box ways to improve and have the willingness and skill to implement the ideas.
Required Knowledge and Skill Sets:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills, phone manners, and the ability to work with others.
- Basic reading and mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Good organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Excellent computer skills, including comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word
Education/Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in business management, industrial engineering, or related fields.
· Engineering background preferred.
· 5 years of experience in manufacturing.
· 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
Salary Range: $50,000.00 to $60,000.00

As a steel service center and distributor of hot-rolled prime and non-prime steel plate, Eddie Kane Steel sells on- and off-gauge, pattern and non-pattern plate sizes, ranging in thickness from 3/16 to 8 inches. Eddie Kane Steel maintains a diverse inventory of prime and non-prime steel plate and, for its strategic customer partners, stock inventory of custom-made parts. Value-added products include OEM parts, counterweights, and steel burn outs for diverse industries, including the waste industry, general building construction, transportation, agricultural and industrial equipment, drilling, theatrical stage, and elevator industries.
Eddie Kane Steel’s flagship processing facility in Ohio (180,000 square-foot warehouse and production plant) has a crane capacity up to 100 tons and has full rail access. The North Carolina and California facilities are also fully served by rail.
Eddie Kane Steel’s processing capabilities include high-definition plasma and oxy-fuel flame cutting, shearing, bending, drilling, punching, welding, beveling, Blanchard grinding, stress relieving, and light machining. With two plasma burning machines (including high-definition plasma machines), plate thicknesses up to 14 inches can be cut. Our oxy-fuel cutting capabilities include several multi-torch multi-head machines with several hundred feet of cutting surface. Through close partnerships with vendors offering proven high-quality workmanship, we provide services such as painting and coating, stamping, embossing, slitting, sawing, turning, annealing, leveling, and pressing.
