The Production Manager will be responsible for implementing logistics and communications of documentary production, from pre-production through post-production, for mini-docs produced both in-house and with outside vendors. The ideal candidate will be hyper-organized with extreme attention to detail, have strong communication skills, and have the ability to juggle multiple fast-moving projects concurrently. This is a hands-on role on a small team; a successful candidate will be a “doer” (not a “conductor”) who thrives in the world of bringing order to chaos.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Heads of Production and Producers with project organization and production logistics for 4-6 short documentaries (mini-docs) a year and other projects as needed.
- Keep multiple projects on track at the same time. Anticipate needs, timelines, and delays, and formulate solutions when problems arise.
- Be a point person for vendors. Drive deadlines, manage relationships and communications, monitor timelines and budgets, and enforce PragerU standards.
- Book locations, secure permits, draft emails and communications for talent and crew, and assist on set during filming sessions.
- Push post-production processes. Set up creative review sessions, take notes, liaise with editors, and hold all parties accountable to timelines and needs. Watch cuts and clips for quality control, spellcheck, sources/fact-check, note check, etc.
- Manage databases, project tracking, status updates, regular reporting, and calendars. Field communications in a very fast-paced environment.
- Oversee proper licensing and license tracking of all assets such as stock footage, music, sfx, etc.
- Assist with writing and organizing pitch documents, status updates, creative summaries, treatments, scripts, titles and copy, promos, etc.
Successful Candidates Will Possess:
- 5-7+ years of production experience (pre-production, day-of, post-production, delivery).
- Licensing experience strongly preferred, including fair use guidelines.
- Technologically savvy and process-minded.
- Strong problem-solving skills, discernment, and extreme attention to detail.
- A passion for organizing, including updating databases, building spreadsheets, and notetaking.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Top-notch organizational and time management skills. Able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and be self-sufficient.
- A true Team Player, proactive, helpful, honest, and calm under pressure. This is a no-ego environment where no task is too small.
