Production Engineer - Innophos

About the Job
Innophos has an exciting opportunity for a Production Engineer to support our Chicago Heights plant. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the continuous availability and efficiency of production equipment and facilities, while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement production procedures.
- Evaluate production results, troubleshoot quantity and quality issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Initiate and lead process improvement projects, including preparation of capital budget needs.
- Ensure continuous improvement of plant processes.
- Track, calculate, communicate production performance metrics (including but not limited to RFT, OEE, etc.).
- Audit production database daily for accuracy and completeness.
Quality and Food Safety
- Oversee Management of Change (MOC) process as it relates to the position's tasks.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, legality, and quality standards.
- Act as designee for plant production coordinator positions as needed.
- Investigate customer complaints and implement corrective actions.
Safety and Health
- Maintain safety and health standards, participate in employee safety training, hazard prevention, and worksite analysis.
- Conduct training for both salary and hourly personnel as required.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Process Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in chemical plant unit E.g. reactions, heat transfer, size reduction, and bulk solids transfer.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral including technical writing ability.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Experience in managing capital projects (Up to $100K): timelines, scheduling, installation, and deliverables review.
- Ability to efficiently manage contractors, service suppliers, and vendors.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to develop plant energy and material balances, read and develop PFDs and P&IDs, and understand plant economics.
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Management of Change (MOC) principles.
- Good understanding of the hazards of materials such as natural gas, industrial solvents, lubricants, as well as the need for protection of the environment and basic knowledge of permit requirements.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control SPC techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with reaction kinetics, process furnace operations, and laboratory analytical techniques is advantageous.
- Must have a strong commitment to safety.
Environmental and/or Physical Requirements
- All work in the manufacturing environment requires use of protective clothing and personal devices: safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, earplugs, goggles, insulated gloves, safety vest, harness, hair net, beard net and may include the use of a full-body coverall and respiratory protection.
- Ability to pass a physical abilities test.
