About the Job
Specific duties include:
- Provide guidance to the engineering teams and customers and design new ways to use specialty optical fiber and fiber optic components to develop or improve fiber lasers and amplifiers as well as products used in telecommunication, medical and sensor applications.
- Provide guidance to engineering team, suppliers on customer application, installation, and interface requirements.
- Provide technical solutions and countermeasures during reliability issues or field failures to minimize customer down time.
- Work with engineering in re-creating failure modes, using knowledge of customer's application and product, provide technical guidance/assistance to engineering and develop countermeasures, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Prioritize various engineering projects such as new product development, product extensions, reliability improvement and cost reduction and provide guidance to the engineering team on the timeline.
- Analyze customer/market needs and determine the requirements, capacity and cost of developing a new fiber product or fiber product extension.
- Act as a subject matter expert within the company, providing expertise on the assigned product/market segments and the competitive landscape.
- Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise
- Define the product, pricing, positioning, and promotion strategies, and provide competitive analysis, including analyzing data, market trends, identifying market opportunities, advising on pricing and promotional decisions, alongside recommendations and guidance.
Education and Experience Requried
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 5 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years related experience
- Technical knowledge and experience in Specialty fiber deployment in Fiber Lasers in a wide range of applications.
- Demonstrated success defining and launching robust products
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated business acumen and leadership capabilities
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 10%-15%
