Product Manager – Customer Portal

The Customer Portal Product Manager occupies a senior position on the Product team and plays a pivotal role in the development and success of our online client portal (aka “Hanover Digital”). This individual will work closely with our K12, Higher Education, and Corporate-practice stakeholders, as well as our Product, Engineering, IT, and Marketing teams to maximize the portal’s value to customers and to Hanover. The portal is the entry point to all of Hanover’s products and services, and its Product Manager is charged with delivering the highest-quality experiences for users and increasing the number of users and the value delivered to those users.
This critical role will work directly with internal development resources, senior leadership, vendors, and practice product managers. The ideal candidate must have an intense curiosity for understanding our clients’ needs, a passion for delivering fantastic user experiences, and the drive to build, maintain, and evolve successful products.
- Lead the strategy, development, and execution of Hanover’s online customer portal
- Define, create, and communicate a product roadmap aligned with business objectives
- Contribute to cross-functional internal discussions about technology investments needed to achieve business objectives
- Deliver fantastic user experiences
- Create utilization stimulation campaigns
- Build and maintain a technical environment that delivers a holistic and well-curated user experience to clients irrespective of which collection of products and services they subscribe to
- Coordinate with internal and external development teams to plan, manage, and test ongoing development of new and existing client portal features
- Document and prioritize product specifications including use cases, user stories, and business requirements based on an understanding of user analytics, voice of the customer, competitive monitoring, general best practices, and input from cross-functional internal stakeholders
- Function as the client portal product expert in cross-functional meetings with key internal stakeholders
- Define KPIs, monitor the performance of the portal, and continuously improve it
- Drive day-to-day prioritization of work operations, projects and their related scope, and troubleshooting reported issues
- Troubleshoot product end-users’ technical support requests
Desired Skills & Attributes
- Demonstrated strengths in structured and logical thinking, problem solving, issue resolution, and attention to detail
- Strong understanding of UX best practices and conventions, including the ability to conduct UX testing
- Experience with agile project management and working with development team stakeholders
- Experience defining and testing user stories, UAT with clients, gathering feedback through interviews or focus groups and iterating the on the product
- Experience using market research including interviews and surveys to understand user needs and requirements
- Skilled at managing multiple simultaneous projects and prioritizing across competing priorities
- Creative problem solver and able to deal with complexity and to quickly identify potential solutions and sources of value
- Proven ability to manage self and others to goals and deadlines
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including the ability to link product design and features to strategic objectives and use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and recommendations
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate rationale and needed courses of action to engage diverse audiences and influence senior executives
- Ability to work cross-functionally through influence and sell new ideas/concepts to experienced but less-technical functional leaders
Experience and Education Requirement
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant business or technical discipline is required
- The Product Manager should have 5+ years of relevant experience in product management, UX design, and/or product innovation with customer-facing products
- The Product Manager should also have prior management experience overseeing an online user community or other online platform serving B2B customers
- Proficient with Sprints, Scrum process, and working with technical developers
- Proficient with CMS’s, Strapi is preferred
- Prior working experience with Salesforce, Azure, Sharepoint, Ant Design, Micros Services are preferred
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and/or Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP) preferred
Location
HQ is in Arlington, Virginia (hybrid or fully remote options available)
Must be able to work Eastern Standard Time zone hours

Compensation
Hanover Research strives to create compensation and benefits programs that are competitive, equitable and fair. The base range for this role at the company is $130,000 - $150,000. This role is also eligible to participate in our variable annual bonus program. This discretionary bonus is based upon both financial performance and individual performance. Please note that the base salary offered is contingent on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Our base pay range is determined by the role and the market.
