Job Summary:
The Product Line Manager owns the Power Switching product line and leads a cross-functional team responsible for strategy, new product development, product portfolio management, marketing, and sales to drive profitable growth for Power Switching products & solutions in utility and industrial applications.
Essential Functions:
- Achieve financial plans (Bookings, Revenue, Profit) and customer service targets
- Lead budgeting (Bookings and Revenue), marketing, sales, and strategic planning processes for the division.
- Plan, manage and coordinate customer product orders and backlog to achieve production loading objectives at maximum profit; manage and coordinate product orders to continuously maintain on-time delivery of parts, products and services as demanded by the customers.
- Maintain current knowledge and expertise of product engineering technologies, new product designs, competitor capabilities and practices, market conditions, and market channels in order to develop short-term and long-term product design, necessary manufacturing applications, and marketing and sales strategies for the company.
- Establish and maintain contact with customers for the purpose of effective product marketing and sales. Lead a program of Voice of the Customer for existing and new markets to identify new product development opportunities.
- Lead the design engineering team in development/execution of product roadmap, technology discovery/development, and product lifecycle management.
- Develop, maintain, and update product documentation and sales enablement tools to include presentations, website and e-marketing, literature, videos, value propositions, and other marketing tools.
- Develop pricing policies and sales strategies to fit the changing market and meet all financial plans. Coordinate and manage projects / bids through a variety of sales channels; analyze competitive pricing levels and adjust proposals to respond effectively to changes in price, service, etc. Negotiate final product prices with customer through field sales personnel.
- Execute product launches working closely with marketing communications, engineering, sales, and operations teams.
- Provide forecast information to operations and participate in sales & operational planning.
- Work with Corporate Sourcing to develop a supply chain and external partner strategy to meet business objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Ten 10 years in a role supplying power engineering solutions or products for electric utility and industrial power systems
- Seven 7 years outside field sales and / or product marketing experience
- Technical competence of electrical power systems
- Effective communicator at all levels - skilled in delivering formal presentations
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems emphasis
- Previous experience as a Product Line Manager in power systems products/solutions for utility or industrial markets
- Minimum of 5 years Leadership / Management of people experience is preferred
- Broad perspective of business operations, preferably in a job shop
