Summary of Responsibilities:
The Product Documentation and Publication Specialist is responsible for all activities related to the creation and revision of product documentation and publication materials for power tools and outdoor power equipment. The scope of duties includes facilitating, or creating and executing various artwork, labels, user instruction, warnings, and illustrations. The scope of work may include product packaging, merchandizing, or any other area of the Chervon business that requires expertise in graphic design, documentation and publication. The associate in this role must coordinate activities across stakeholder functions, as well as other corporate locations to ultimately deliver final draft documents and publications.
This role plays an integral part in the product development team, interfacing with Quality, Product Management, Packaging Engineering, Product Safety, Marketing, Engineering and Project Management within the Chervon organization. This interface is primarily performed within the new product development phase but will extend to postproduction publication revisions when they occur.

Responsibilities:
- Utilize expertise to support packaging design artwork, translation and layout as needed.
- Provide support when necessary for various publications, print or digital, including merchandizing artwork, packaging labels, service diagrams and bulletins, and product catalogs.
- Take full responsibility for document and publication process. Lead continuous improvement activities related to product document and publication creation process.
- Take project management role related to all documentation and publication activities. Identify and manage project risks related to meeting schedule and deliverables. Take ownership to deliver final drafts.
- Support product label design activities through review of artwork performed by others, and in some cases create product labels. Review warnings for correct content and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Create and review edits of existing user manuals, when revisions are required.
- Implement warnings within user manual. Coordinate activities related to warning creation by working closely with Chervon Quality, UL Agency and Product Safety stakeholders.
- Lead activities related to user manual instruction content including:
- Text content-work closely with user manual stakeholders to create the text content for user instruction, from others or alone.
- Illustrations-work closely with user manual stakeholders to facilitate the creation of line drawings and other illustrations and figures, by others or individually.
- During each new product development phase, become expert in the product applications, proper use, and features in order to create proper user manual instruction.
- Facilitate text translations from draft documents. Manage timelines related to translations by anticipating bottlenecks and delays with outside translation firms.
Competencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with a wide range of personalities across multiple internal and external organizations.
- Expert in written English grammar. Must be able to correctly edit user manual text for proper grammar.
- Able to create illustrations for insertion into user manual figures from photo imagery as well as CAD file data.
- Expert in graphic design software, knowledge of Adobe software suite is preferred.
- Knowledge of the power tool and outdoor power equipment industry. Familiar with applications of tools across a wide range of these products.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and safety requirements that drive publication warnings and markings
- Excellent computer literacy; Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and Visual Editing Software.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- The ideal candidate will have greater than 5 years of tool or consumer product technical writing experience.
- Prior experience in creation of user instruction manuals preferred.
